Identification:
Very similar to the sole, but distinguished by bigger nasal openings on the underside of the head - the larger one being similar in size to the eyes. Colouration brownish, speckled with dark spots.

Breeding:
Channel populations breed late spring-summer

Habitat:
Lives on shallow sandy bottoms.

Range:
In UK waters, found mainly in English Channel.
